Serious problem with desktop?

Hi there,

I think I read about this before on ubuntu-devel but I can't find it 
anymore.

Basically, my desktop is totally out of sync with what it should be. I have 
to go to places --> desktop and press reload on the window that appears for 
it to refresh the desktop.

I'm using Hoary-RC, fully updated.

Is this problem known about? I haven't made any major system changes apart 
from installing a few things from synaptic.
