Lilypond for i386?

Hi,

I've been using Ubuntu for less than 24h so I might have missed 
something here, but...

I notice that in "universe" there are packages for GNU lilypond (the 
music typesetter) for both the AMD64 and PPC platforms but NOT for i386. 
Why is this? I understand that universe packages are not supported by 
Ubuntu so how can I go about creating my own lilypond package for ubuntu 
that I might share back to universe. Perhaps there IS a package for 
lilypond but (for some reason) it isn't on the server.
