There's no Ubuntu PPC live cd available, but quite a lot of interest in 
it.
Meanwhile, you could try a ppc version of knoppix 3.2 you can download 
from:
http://ftp.uni-kl.de/pub/linux/knoppix-mib/

Doesn't seem to be much current activity with it, but it did work on my 
new-world g3 imac.
