What about universe periodic updates?

Anyone who installs stuff from universe will eventually get bitten in
the ass by some package that breaks something.  As I see it, there is a
slightly smaller chance of that happening by using an updated-universe
(with uncompilable or dependency-unsatisfied packages being absent)

That is in comparison to using Hoary's universe or debian sid.

Now, there is always the possibility of just installing from source
with apt-get source and using Hoary or Sid...
