It certainly looks nice, and I think would solve a number of problems.
Not being a udev/hotplug guru, though, I think I'll wait until it's in
mainstream udev; though if somebody wants to try building Ubuntu's
debian-installer with the patch you mention I'd be interested to hear
about the results.
