Ability to switch soundcard for input/output

Hi,

I am the owner of a Logitech USB headset, which has a builtin soundcard.
My PC also has a AC97 soundcard which I want to use to listen to music.

Would it be possible to enhance one of the Gnome utilities to be able to
configure which soundcard is used for output and which is used for
input ?

In Hoary you can use gnome volume control to setup the mixing of both
sound cards but not input/output stuff.

Should I post this to gnome desktop devel list or else where ?
