when you receive a file with xchat this is placed in ~/.xchat2 wouldn't ~/download/ be better?

When you receive a file with xchat this is placed in ~/.xchat2 wouldn't
~/download/ be better? downloading into ~/ would be a bad idea because
you could overwrite .bashrc for example people said on the xchat forums.
What happens if someone sends you a .bashrc file with gaim or you
download one with firefox?

The reason that I would won't this is because .xchat2/ directory isn't
shown in nautilus.
