Drag and drop is no longer working with Trash Applet in Hoary

I updated my /etc/apt/sources file to point to hoary today and found
that my trash applet is no longer working properly. Dragging and
dropping to the applet no longer works, neither from the desktop or
from a nautilus window. Items can be dropped into the Wastebasket
window though once it's opened.
There is another oddity that I have seen happen with each file that I
have put into Wastebasket window. A few minutes after I empty the
trash, an icon from the now deleted file will fly from the trash applet
in the bottom right corner in the direction of the upper left corner. I
haven't noticed this happen until I actually empty the trash and it may
happen more than once per file.
While the novelty of my deceased (and buried) files coming back from
the dead to haunt my desktop could be found amusing, I hope that it is
not a permanent feature. Perhaps it is just an easter egg for
Halloween. I haven't seen it happen since the holiday passed ten
minutes ago.
Thanks,
Jason Pearce
