This is my first post to the list so please forgive my english but
it's not my native language, I'll try to do my best to make me
understand.
I'd installed warty and everything worked flawless, then I upgraded to
hoary and here comes the problems that I was dealing with for the last
day :-P
After the upgrade, I try to use the nvidia driver and when the gdm
start the cursor left shadows behind and the windows were not draw on
the screen. I tried to tweak my xorg configuration without succed so I
thought that it could be a problem with the nvidia driver and xorg so
I decided to test it on my Debian Sid box with xfree86. The same
behavior happened there with the same kernel that hoary and even with
previous stable kernels (2.4.26 and 2.4.27). Then, I compiled the
previous nvidia driver (1.0-6111) and it worked fine on the Debian
box.
So, this is what I'm going to do. First, I'll compile the 1.0-6111
nvidia driver on hoary to test it (even when I'm pretty sure that it
will work well) and then I'll send a mail to linux-bugs at nvidia.com
with my nvidia-bug-report for 6629 telling them the problem that I had
so they can solve it.
Now I'm using the xorg on hoary with the vesa driver so I suggest to
make use with that driver instead of the nvidia driver till I can tell
you if 6111 works well and then use that driver in the case of a Riva
TNT2 card.
Greetting and thanks for all.
