Synaptic disappeared after an upgrade to hoary (Depends: libapt-pkg-libc6.3-5-3.3)

apt and all the related packages, including synaptics, have been 
updated.  Maybe you did this before all were available.  That's why I 
always do the update by hand ... selecting one package after another 
one.  If I see that something is going to break, I leave it until later.
