There is a bug in the Ubuntu install that I found back before Warty's release,
but is still not
fixed in Hoary. I have provided some extra information in the bug report, but
have not heard back in a while. This bug (#2416). results in an incorrect
hardware clock whenever the clock is set to local time in the install. It can
be worked around by executing /etc/init.d/hwclock start after the install to
synchronize the clock.
I would work on a fix for this bug, however I don't have much programming
knowledge surrently
and am thus unable to provide a fix. However, it would be nice if someone could
look into this as
this looks like it probably would be a trivial fix and because this may be a
major problem for easily confused newbies.
If this bug is fixed soon (before Hoary release) - I feel a new Warty refresh
ISO should be released w/all security updates and this fix included - as it may
qualify as a "critical bug" as it happens frequently - on any install which uses
local time, in fact.
