No recovery-function on ubuntu-cd's?

Hi,

I try to boot with special options with the Live CD but I didn't
succeed  :-k 
It seems it always reads kernel from CD.
root=/dev/hda* initrd=/initrd.img kernel=/vmlinuz

Which options to give to boot on partition on the harddisk ?

I can't make a boot disk because I can't boot to the / with mkboot,
Ubuntu is on the second slave disk and I didn't have installed Grub or
Lilo so it would be a good idead to make a recovery function on the CD
