This package is in universe, so relies on community contributions for
updates. There can be an update as soon as somebody contributes a
suitable one. If you can help, there are three streams that might be
relevant, each of which have different policies on what updates are
acceptable to meet user expectations in a stable release:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SecurityTeam/UpdateProcedures - fixes
recommended to users to fix security problems.
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates - bugfixes recommended to
users for automatic updates.
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuBackports - opt-in for users who want
newer versions of things.
Hope that helps! If you have any specific questions on how to contribute
or work on producing an update, feel free to continue to ask here.
Robie
