Can't build makemkv without newer libavcodec

configure: error: The libavcodec library is too old. Please get a recent one from http://www.ffmpeg.org


I also tried compiling ffmpeg from souce with the instructions and it didnt seem to change anything ???


Mint 18.1 that's based on ubuntu.
