I'll try to clarify.
The linked bug is a mailman bug you are right on that.
What has to be done is to add an Ubuntu Task for the versions affected - in
this case only trusty.
This is then a Ubuntu bug for the packaging of mailman - so not a "mailman
bug" in that sense.
It is easy, I did it for you and subscribed you to the bug since developers
will want a reporter to verify once a fix was made available.
