If you use Ubuntu Make (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-make) which is
part of xenial and older releases, you will always get latest
development tools available. As part of what we support, there is Visual
Studio Code and Apple Swift!

I hope that will make some of your dreams a reality! ;)
