Missing new kernel after upgrade 14.04 -> 16.04

Today I have upgraded another 14.04 machine to 16.04. After the upgrade 
the kernel was still version 4.2.0 from the linux-generic-lts-wily 
package. I had seen that problem some time ago but my bug report [1] 
seems to be ignored, I'd like to know if there is anything else I should 
do to get the problem fixed. 

I think there should be some meta packages in 16.04 which upgrade the 
linux-lts-{utopic,vivid,wily} packages to linux-generic. Or maybe the 
upgrade tool should add the linux-generic package?
