optional dark theme

Dark menus with white backgrounds is not a dark theme! ;)

To my knowledge no Linux distribution ever has shipped a professional-looking
dark theme. I've cobbled together several over the years including the one I'm
using now, but it always a pain in the ass as most you'll find online are
cartoonish monstrosities.

The situation was much better in the old days, Windows 95-XP allowed you to just
set colors you liked on the standard theme and everything worked perfectly.
(That is until the SKINZ/white-background fascists took over around the turn of
the century and stamped out the choice.)

ps. So yes, a professional dark theme of the quality of Ambiance would be very
welcomed thanks.
