root-* suite of packages

Hello

It looks like the root-* ( Numerical data analysis framework) packages 
aren't being actively maintained.
I've spent the past few days building different versions of the ROOT 
package into a single package with xrootd (allows files to be streamed 
from multiple locations e.g. grid nodes) and Pythia8 (Monte Carlo data 
generation) built into the system.

Would there be interest in replacing this suite of packages with a 
single package that contains the entire root system? I'd happy to 
maintain this package for the foreseeable future.
