imagination error

Attempted to use imagination to create a slide show -- what it claims to do.

Got the error message:

Failed to launch the encoder!

Failed to execute child process
"avconv" (No such file or directory).


Strange, since the package description says:
" It only requires the ffmpeg encoder to produce a movie to be burned with another application".

Does the program actually need avconv? If so, why is it not in Synaptic 0.83  (3.0-5ubuntu1)?
