HPLIP and HP Laserjet 1018

Hello
Since the clean installation of Ubuntu 14.04 x64 I've found issues printing
on a HP Laserjet 1018.
The problem is when I send a document to the printer Ubuntu says that the
printing was done with no problem but the printer doesn't printed anything
at all. The printer is plugged to the computer through an USB port.
Looking on the internet for this issue I've found an entry on ubuntu's
forums which suggest to remove the actual HPLIP version and install the
version 3.13.9-1 which is the HPLIP from Ubuntu 13.10.
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2226631&page=2
After doing this the issue was fixed and now I can print normally.
After two minor updates on 14.04 I'm still getting the same issues with the
latest versions of HPLIP. For this reason I'm still using the 3.13.9-1
version.
Knowing that this workaround won't be a final solution and that sometime in
the future is likely that 3.13.9-1 will not be supported anymore I wonder
if someone is aware of this issue and is attempting to fix it.
Thank you.
