dip: unused group but still available.

Hi
By reading Ubuntu Wiki[1] about Device Permissions we can
find something interesting in 'Implementation' subheading
and notes about various default groups. My question is about
a 'dip' group, which is available in e.g. Xubuntu 12.04 LTS.
It's very interesting, because on mentioned Wiki page we could
read, that 'dip' group is unused in Ubuntu.
* dip: Unused in Ubuntu, should just go away completely.
But this group is still in '/etc/group' file. Also default user is already
in 'dip' group. So what should I do? Remove, leave as is or delete
user from this group? Generally: why it's available when Wiki page
contains different information?
Best regards.
