With a shared persistent ssh connection, I'm getting 0.41s to run "true"
across the Atlantic, after the initial shared connection is established.

I'm using:

Host *
  ControlMaster auto
  ControlPath ~/.ssh/control/%r@%h:%p
  ControlPersist 3600
