Turning off laptop trackpad when the lid is closed

I could do that, but that would be a hack that would only fix it for
my own laptop. On a different laptop, device 11 could probably be
anything. To me it seems like this is a problem that has probably been
solved before for other laptops so there's probably a standard place
to put this kind of thing. I just need to figure out where it is...
