Really miss my panel applets.

I am starting to get used to the Unity desktop. It's still hard to find some
things that were formerly easy, but I'm getting there.
At this point, the thing I miss the most are my panel applets, one for fun,
three to monitor my computer.

How can I get equivalent functionality back?
