Hi,
We don't do software version update on a released version of Ubuntu
unless it's bugfix only or got an exception approved by the Technical Board.
Therefore your idea will simply end up having most packages flagged as
outdated and as our release cycle is of 6 months, they'll also all be
marked unmaintained but that's wrong, it's just the way it's meant to be.
Having a way to record interest in a backport of a newer version might
be interesting though.
We already have tools (uscan/watch files) to check if the version we
have in our development version is in sync with the upstream's and when
it's not in sync, we usually have a good reason not to be.
