DHCP lease fails at startup after upgrade of ifupdown (10.04)

Hi,
I have Ubuntu 10.04 running on VMware ESX. After upgrading ifupdown (to
0.6.8ubuntu29.2) dhclient no longer seems to acquire a DHCP lease. If I
restart the network manually, dhclient is able to get a valid DHCP lease.
If I revert back to the previous version of ifupdown (0.6.8ubuntu29)
dhclient is able to get a DHCP lease. I have been able to replicate this
on two different installations of 10.04 on VMware.
Kernel:
Linux ubuntu1004 2.6.32-27-generic-pae #49-Ubuntu SMP Thu Dec 2 00:07:52
UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux
Any idea why the updated ifupdown fails to get a DHCP lease at startup?
Kind regards,
Martijn Brinkers
