Mirror Issues

Hi,

today I tried to upgrade one of my Computers to Lucid to try and to some 
bug reporting, however I encountered a few issues that have kept me from 
upgrading so far. I am currently in China, and thus need to use one of 
the local mirrors, since any international mirrors are simply 
_too_slow_. One of the mirrors here is rootguide.org which is reasonably 
fast, but lacks behind with the lucid repo about one week: 
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archivemirrors. So I tried to switch to 
BJTU which at least today is showing as up-to-date. After I configured 
the new sources.list manually with the bjtu mirror, which I could for 
some reason not choose from the Administration->Software Sources Tool I 
tried to check the sources again and then got the error below.

Despite these errors I was able to start the upgrade and it downloaded 
the first 1400 files with about 250KiB/s then it failed with some error 
similar the one below and after I restarted it now loads the rest of the 
files with 8KiB/s. However I have no way of seeing what exact file it is 
downloading or whats the reason it is suddenly so slow.

Anyway, can anyone tell me something about these errors? And is there 
any way to check whether a mirror is consistent with the official ubuntu 
servers?
