Elegance is not the same as usability...

Many people use icons as "orientation landmarks" and never read the menu
text (except for the first couple of times they use a menu).



Also, what's the point of putting the presence status there, as it's
already visible anyway?

I can see a point in splitting presence status & IM message "warnings",
but that requires cooperation with a lot of other programs, and
currently it's just wasting my panel space with duplicate info.
