My experience with intel is that they bring the linux drivers to the
same features of the windows drivers very slowly, they do not fix bugs
timely and they do not care that often their vga out does not work. I've
seen this on toshiba and dell laptops. Otherwise (that is, where they
work, e.g. the eeepc) they are good.
My experience with ATI is that it worked terribly in the past, and
incredibly well now. And now that an explanation has been posted, once
again, I have to say that AMD is trying hard to "not be evil". I said
this the first time when the k6 came out many years ago.
Danny, could you perhaps start using the quote characters? Reading your
e-mails is a true mess, even if the contents are interesting. Also if
crossposting could be ehm... avoided most of the times, it would be much
better. Otherwise I have to fear to reply to a list I don't follow by
mistake and thus I unconsciously become inclined not to reply to you at
all.
