Missing packages and other packages matters

Hello. I downloaded latest Ubuntu at last July/August
but still I'm missing GTK 2.0 development environment.
Full list of the current missing packages are at the end.
Some of the packages were claimed to be in the DVD but they
were not. I'm unable to install the now-latest Ubuntu,
please patch the previous version.

Many useful programs are missing from the DVD. Please
consider releasing additional DVD image files: in such a way
that people may download 1, 2, or 3 (etc.) DVD images for
increasingly fully equipped Ubuntu.

When I selected packages, I noticed a dangerous thing:
Because emacs proper was missing, I installed at meanwhile
some emacs. BUT because the some emacs package was alternative,
the proper emacs was unmarked SILENTLY. Please ask for unmarkings.
Because the package browser may not list the alternatives or they
are hidden elsewhere, a silent unmarking may go unnoticed.
(Avoid alternatives, allow installation of all versions if you
keep them in your archives.)

My ubuntunotes contains nearly 1400 lines of complaints. I may pick
up some issues if you want to.
