All good points.
Even today, I was using Skype for a while with no prob. But after a while I started doing the daily updates, and ALSA just started to make that annoying noise and I had to stop it with sudo /etc/ini.d/alsa-utils stop. Of course Skype audio also spot working. After a reboot, all is well.
