Are you using virtualbox-ose(-modules) by any chance? (see
https://launchpad.net/bugs/188579)

A similar problem has been reported with AppArmor:
https://launchpad.net/bugs/148586

The problem seems to be that apt does not try hard enough to install the
packages without pulling in too many new ones (esp. with regard to
kernel images).
