Hmm, actually nothing. You are right, and I were wrong. ;-)
When I think the issue over, I realize that backports can support this need
perfectly.

What could be changed to better solve this problem?


Well, maybe the support for hardware updates could be enhanced, but I don't
really know, so I'll keep my mouth shut till I've thought it through this
time... :-)
