Windows Program Support

While additional funtionality might be desireable, such a user  
understandable notification would be a great improvement already (and  
manageable for a LTS release).

Please don't. Autorun is a Windows-ism, even Mac OS X with it's much  
applauded GUI refuses to do such nasty things.
