The Prefetch project (http://code.google.com/p/prefetch/) is aimed at
implementing prefetching solutions in Linux. I will be working this
summer on it as part of Google Summer of Code. I hope we will provide
equivalent of Windows XP prefetcher in time for Gutsy release. When it
is implemented, we will look into other prefetching techniques,
including ReadyBoost.
