esound is certainly enabled but does that also affect X mouse cursor
movement? Also the sound card does hardware mixing and I'm sure the hold
ups were never this bad on Edgy. It's not locking up every 5 minutes but
you do notice it on startup just after booting finishes and sometimes
when you go to shutdown along with when the computer is under load (e.g.
computing package dependencies).
