Yes, I should clarify that point a bit. I'm _not_ looking to build a
web-application, but as Forest says, a framework.

One of the main goals behind the design is to not only allow multiple
front-ends, but also to make it possible for every administrative task
to be performed through it. So not only should it be able to manage
LDAP, but also manage dpkg, control service and be able to view/kill
processes. Not all necessarily through the same client.

To allow all this the required api will be defined by the server
modules that do the needed task, not by the server itself. The only
thing that will be centralised is authentication, client-server
communication and access control.

As for Canonical's Landscape project, never heard of it. The short
blurb did not look like what I'm looking for, it also looked non-Free.
I couldn't find a spec for it, so until someone gives me more info,
I'm considering it vapour-ware.
