software updates

Hi All,
       I think the software update feature in ubuntu desktop os can be bit
more userfriendly.
So, I suggest the following enhancment

- The updates list should be categorized more clear like security,
application updates,
severity etc.  When i run the software update wizard
for the first time i list more than 100 updates and by default all of
them are checked.
I am finding it difficult and time consuming to un-select the updates one by
one. So, I think listing updates by category will help to sort out
this problem.


I am new to ubuntu. I would like to take part in its activities.
If you already discussed about this topic please make me know.
