Doesn't this sort of sound like distribution variants (ie. Ubuntu Studio) or Synaptic->Edit->Mark Packages by Task? At what point would creating several CDs cease to represent a single Ubuntu distribution?
Not that I'm opposed to the idea, it just seems like there is some overlap.
