State of cleanup-audio-jumble

Should be added as a follow-up to this conversation: Pulseaudio is now
enabled by default on new Fedora installs.

I wonder if there is already some sort of collaboration between
Ubuntu, Fedora and upstream (Pulseaudio) on this topic. Can anyone
enlighten me a bit?
