support for .metalink

Hi all,
       I have made a launchpad entry
https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu-cdimage/+spec/segmented-downloadingwith
the wiki entry at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/metalink giving the details. I'm no developer but
all the links have been given from where info. can be found. If possible
please set the code in a right manner as it doesn't look nice.
         Looking forward to comments, suggestions either on the wiki or on
the mailing list or both. Thank you for your time :)
