First off, sorry for potentially hitting some of your mailboxes more
than once but I wanted to get the word spread out as much as possible.
Now on to the matter at hand: Google Code-In. This is a project Google
hosts where open source organizations participate, providing bite size
tasks and mentorship for 13-17 year olds from around the world. The
winners and their parents get to hang out with Google in San Francisco
for what is ultimately a really, really cool trip.
Ubuntu has participated in this for several years, with Canonical
providing the admins. Now there is a [plan][1] to have Canonical do a
Snappy organization, with a separate community-driven Ubuntu
organization. The problem is that we're scrambling to put the
application together before the deadline Monday. The big hurdle is
tasks. We need tasks across a wide variety of disciplines and some need
to be a bit easier than another ones.
That said, I'd love to have your input. Feel free to throw your task
ideas right on the [pad][2] we have created or simply get in touch with
an email reply, on Discourse or on #ubuntu-google on Freenode.
Additionally, if any of you would like to mentor, it's a really great
opportunity. You get a t-shirt out of the deal, too!
