Ubuntu Express - Bootloader Installation
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+spec/ubuntu-express-bootloader
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuExpress/BootLoader

Design an UbuntuExpress component to install the boot loader.

Ubuntu Express - Copy the Filesystem
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+spec/ubuntu-express-copy-filesystem
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuExpress/CopyFileSystem

UbuntuExpress component to copy the live filesystem to the hard disk.

LVM install available by default on all arches
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+spec/installer-volume-management
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DapperInstallerVolumeManagement

Leftover from Breezy that due to a set of missing features from
upstream, it could not be deployed in full.
We clearly want to complete the work and make it better.

Media integrity check
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+spec/media-integrity-check
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MediaIntegrityCheck

As of Ubuntu 5.10, the installation and live media are capable of
performing an integrity check, but they do not do so by default, and the
means to activate it is not obvious.

We should consider whether it is worth the additional time to perform
the check by default (this should be considered in light of anticipated
support for DMA on CD-ROM devices), or whether we can provide a more
obvious path to the functionality.

Booting from USB storage devices should be supported
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+spec/boot-from-usb
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BootingFromUSB

This should Just Work if the root filesystem can be located and mounted
automagically, but should be explicitly tested and verified for Dapper.

Network Magic: Automatic network detection and configuration management
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+spec/network-magic
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/NetworkMagic

Integrate NetworkManager and associated technologies to provide a better
user experience when connecting/disconnecting to/from various networks.
This should be done in a way which is backwards-compatible with ifupdown
and other standard mechanisms in previous Ubuntu releases.

Provide a reasonable video playback capability in the default desktop
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+spec/video-playback
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/VideoPlaybackRoadmap

Video playback in Ubuntu 5.10 is problematic: gstreamer seems to have
problems with A/V synchronization, etc. We need a solution which works
well out of the box for playing Theora+Vorbis streams

One true $PATH
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+spec/one-true-path
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/OneTruePath

The default command search path for the system should be set in exactly
one place. No more, no less. It should be obvious to find and painless
to change, both for distribution developers and end users.

Faster Gnome Startup
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+spec/faster-gnome-startup
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FasterGnomeStartup

For Dapper , we'd like to have a speedy gdm to gnome process when login
is done. We need to identify what takes the gnome session so long to
start, streamline it down and get from gdm to desktop so fast we don't
need a splash screen.

Kubuntu 6.04 Roadmap
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+spec/kubuntu-roadmap-dapper
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KubuntuDapperRoadmap

Overall plans and strategy for Kubuntu during the 6.04 release cycle

Example content
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+spec/example-content
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/ExampleContent

For each desktop application in the default install where it is
practical, we should provide at least one piece of example content. This
is valuable for testing, experimentation and demonstration of Ubuntu
(especially the live CD). These examples should be small but meaningful,
and easily discoverable.

A MOTU assisting reviewing platform
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+spec/revu
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/REVU2Spec

Revu2 is a tool for assisting MOTUs to review packages. Packages are
created mainly be contributors, but also by other tools.
