From daniel.van.vugt at canonical.com Tue Jun 18 05:16:36 2024 From: daniel.van.vugt at canonical.com (Daniel van Vugt) Date: Tue, 18 Jun 2024 13:16:36 +0800 Subject: Application for ubuntu-desktop membership Message-ID: <3127269c-7e98-46b3-904b-75d81109a690@canonical.com> Hi desktoppers, I would like to be considered for membership in the ubuntu-desktop team. Starting as a Linux user in the 1990s, I moved to Ubuntu around about 2007. In 2011 I started contributing to the Unity desktop and was asked to join Canonical. In 2012 I joined the Canonical Desktop team as the full time maintainer of Compiz underlying the Unity desktop. In 2013 I moved onto the Mir team and stayed there until 2017 when I returned to the Canonical Desktop team where I remain today. Throughout this time I've had countless uploads sponsored, and have remained the top (human) contributor to bug management karma in Ubuntu for most of a decade. Being able to upload packages myself would remove the biggest delay I experience in my daily work and make the whole team slightly more efficient. Thanks for your consideration... - Daniel From didrocks at ubuntu.com Tue Jun 18 06:02:31 2024 From: didrocks at ubuntu.com (Didier Roche) Date: Tue, 18 Jun 2024 08:02:31 +0200 Subject: Application for ubuntu-desktop membership In-Reply-To: <3127269c-7e98-46b3-904b-75d81109a690@canonical.com> References: <3127269c-7e98-46b3-904b-75d81109a690@canonical.com> Message-ID: <28ebcf12-5509-4d25-97bc-39746bc0f283@ubuntu.com> Le 18/06/2024 à 07:16, Daniel van Vugt a écrit : > Hi desktoppers, Hey, > > I would like to be considered for membership in the ubuntu-desktop team. > > Starting as a Linux user in the 1990s, I moved to Ubuntu around about 2007. Knowing Daniel for many years now, and while I haven’t sponsored his work in the recent years, I have no doubt in his integration skills and carefulness work, testing and impact analyses before proceeding any uploads to the archive. I’m fully trusting him he will apply the same care having upload rights to the desktop package sets on the components he is responsible for. He demonstrated high quality work on our different desktop environments over the year, is one of our top upstream contributors to GNOME and understands the Ubuntu cycles/community/processes (SRU, freezes, ...). He's already actively working on our desktop packages on launchpad and salsa and having direct access should make things easier for everyone. +1 from me!
