rss reader by default?

So, i've been wondering this for a while. Why doesn't ubuntu provide a
rss reader by default? I know firefox can do it, but, I mean a REAL rss
reading application, not just some live bookmarks.

Liferea is my personal choice(for Gnome, of course), and, as far as I
know, doesn't require anything that isn't already in the basic desktop.

I know its probably too late to have anything done in time for edgy,
but, I thought I'd mention it to see if I can get some feed back as to
"why".

Thanks, keep up the great work.
