Yes i read that post on the nm ml, that's why i'm asking it on
ubuntu-desktop ml:
it would be a new entry in the nm-applet menu that would exec network-admin

But personnaly i don't undersantd why they don't want to handle static
ip, it would unify network configuration between each linux
distribution. I can't see why it's a bad thing.

and the fact that n-m doesn't play step on the toe of resolvconf shows
that having 2 systems lead to conflicts.

not only removing the wifi part, but also the dynamic ip part.
the reason is that network-manager handle these 2 tasks better than
network-admin does.
And having to way to configure the wifi will be confusing for the end user.
Also the wifi part or network-admin is the part that doesn't work well.

All these comments will only make sense when network-manger will be in
main and in the default install. So obviously not a dapper goal.

For a laptop user a tool like network-manager is critical
