Mhh verstehe ich das richtig, das Extended fuer eine erweiterte 
Partition steht. Ich glaub schon. Es ist daher nicht mit dem Dateisystem 
  ext2/ext3 zu verwechseln.

das kannst du daran erkennen, dass start und ende von hdb2 und hdb5 
identisch sind. diese erweiterten partitionen sind dafuer da, um mehr 
als die 4 primaeren partitionen anlegen zu koennen.

Also, auf /dev/hdb2 liegt wohl nicht (mehr) deine gesuchte partition. 
mit LVM habe ich keine erfahrung, aber ich hoffe mal die von dir 
gesuchten dateien verstecken sich unter hdb5 *daumen drueck*
