Mark I believe that what David is trying to do is find a universal
font for each script.  So in our case English & Welsh are covered by
Latin Script which is currently set as DejaVu Sans.  Of course if
there are speakers of other languages on this list feel free to
suggest fonts for other scripts but David's objective is to save as
much space as possible on the LiveCD to bundle more stuff into there
without wasting resources such as using multiple fonts for just one
script.
