I specifically left that out of my quote. I wanted to correct the statement of yours that Ben mailed Randall a quote from the CoC privately.
But, since you seemingly insist (with the best of intentions I'm sure) I get involved, given the following circumstances:
1. Assuming that everyone is well intentioned here
2. Knowing that Ben has a penchant for transparency
3. Being that Randall's E-Mail didn't seem to contain anything sensitive
4. Being that Randall specifically asked not to be contacted directly
Ben's only option to respond was only available through the mailing list. I can only assume he didn't want to be held liable for mailing the list in response to any future posts by Randall. Alternatively, he figured the list was dropped by mistake. Or (insert other random scenario here)

Honestly, I think at this point, emotions are very charged. Being that Ben is involved in multiple communities where disclosing private communications is frowned up, I believe he knows not to do such a thing.
I'm wondering if Randall would have sent a very similar post to the list had he realized the list was CCd in the original communication. I'm not trying to blame or whitewash anything here. However, we are all human and sometimes err.

Can we all please take a step back and make sure we're looking at this objectively?
Thanks,
